About the Brand Located in the beautiful Willamette Valley, GloryBee Foods is a leading supplier of natural foods and craft supplies to consumers, businesses, and manufacturers worldwide. Family-owned and operated since in 1975, their goal is to provide our customers with the highest-quality products for healthy living. GloryBee Foods started officially in January 1975 under the name of Dick's Bee Supplies as the transition was made from hobbyist to businessman. Richard Turanski, a third-generation beekeeper, had been given a beehive to begin a hobby, as his interest grew it connected with his reading of the Bible, for honey is mentioned 52 times in the Bible. When connecting with ancient times he thought of when they ate honey they did not eat the filtered honey of today but all of the products of the hive: honey, bee pollen, beeswax, propolis, and royal jelly. Within a couple of months the name was changed to what everyone today knows now as "GloryBee Foods" when a family friend from California offered a new title. Dick, as he is known to his friends, recalls "in 1974, we moved to 1635 River Road in Eugene, Oregon, and were contemplating more involvement in beekeeping and selling the honey. We had plenty of storage space and a shop to work in as well, so my wife Patty and I took up the initiative and put a sign out on the road stating 'Honey for Sale.' The original plan was to run 100 colonies of bees and build the necessary equipment, but business grew more quickly after Dick was asked to teach a beekeeping class at Lane Community College in Eugene. The first year, GloryBee Honey extracted 10,000 pounds of honey; 3,000 pounds of it was dill honey. They now produce an average of 13,000 pounds of honey daily. The current GloryBee product lines have grown to include the unique and popular Honeystix, natural and organic sweeteners, royal jelly, propolis, pollen, herbal honey, herbs, spices, nuts, dried fruits, chocolate, soap and candle making supplies, and of course, lots of honey.
